Former 60s and 70s top model Liora Lapidot called me the other day to share her excitement at the publication of "Israel Fashion Art 1948-2008" album-book and said that she was very flattered that she had been featured in quite a number of its fashion photos.
I replied by saying that luckily for her she was photographed in quite a number of the country's most creative designs. And as seen in the enclosed picture - indeed she was. It's a gown designed by Fini Leitersdorf, "Maskit"'s celebrated ddesigner who in this specific case was inspired by a painting by her husband artist Yohanan Simon.
The photograph by Ben Lam is featured in the chapter "The Love Story of Fashion and Art" which is about the long romance between these two disciplines featuring images of art-inspired designs as well as hand-painted clothes.
Speaking about love - Liora told me that book was given to her as a Valentine Day's present.......
