A graphic version of "israel fashion Art 1948-2008" photo in the 1st issue of "Designer Fashion" magz. |
Hi, Today I would like to congratulate Yaara Keydar, editor of "Haaretz"' new fashion magazine "Designer Fashion" which came out today, Sept. 1, 2010. Yaara, a popular blogger as well as a former designer at "Castro" graduated with honors from Shenkar College of Design and Technology, B.Des in Fashion. , and also worked as fashion writer at "Rating" weekly magz.
In an article by Revital Madar about the military look, who requested some historic photos for the article - she included a 1948 picture of Eliyahu Sela, a Palmach soldier in his typical military garb.
The photo appears in "Israel Fashion Art 1948-2008" "שיכרון עיצובים - אמנות האופנה בישראל" in the chapter devoted to hats. After receiving from me the photo Revital said it contributed a lot to the article's graphics. Thanks very much, Revital.
Although, most of the hats chapter's pictures are very modern, fashion-oriented and creative, it starts with a few Israeli Iconic hats from the times of the country's inception. One of those is the "Kova Gerev",knitted hat worn then by the Palmach guys. Another is the "Ata"' cotton "Kova Tembel" worn then, in trips, and in the Kibuts, by practically everyone.
The original photo as seen in the book looks as it does here above.
